Kumbia Queers

Get ready to rethink everything you know about Cumbia! The unmistakably unforgettable Kumbia Queers from Buenos Aires will be back on the road in Europe in September 2026! This non-binary and lesbian quintet blends the grimy, electronic-driven subgenre of cumbia villera with driven guitar rock for a uniquely dynamic fusion of traditional and cutting-edge sounds.

The band describes its style as 1000% Tropi Punk – with a wild mixture of Afro-Cuban and Latin American Cumbia influences, queerness and punk spirit, the musicians are reinterpreting Latin American heartache and macho posturings, bringing fun and politics together in their own captivating style.

The story goes back to the year 2007 where these musicians got bored of the punk rock scene, and decided to do something completely diferent: Cumbia. What started out as something just for fun, led eventually to the formaton of Kumbia Queers. As NPR Latino says, “they’re no punchline. They’re for real." Many of the members of Kumbia Queers hail from the influential Argentinian ’90s punk trio She-Devils, who bring that combo's signature grungy, DIY style to life with million-stream hits like "Mientes" and “Puesta”.

Experiencing the band live on stage exposes you to a relentless blast of tropical-punk originals, covers, and new tracks from the group's freshly released album. A show with Kumbia Queers is more than just a concert; it's a celebration of inclusivity and freedom where everyone is invited to let loose and join the party!

The band toured extensively all over Latin America, Europe and USA in their over 15 years of existence, playing shows on festivals like Rock al Parque (COL), Cosquin Rock (ARG), Lincoln Center NYC (USA), Vive Latino (ESP), Vive Latino (MX), Boomtown (UK), Sumarscene (SWE), Festival Mundial (NL), Poolbar (A), TFF Rudolstadt (GER), Colors of Ostrava (CZ), Antilliaanse Feesten (B), Festival de la cité Lausanne (CH), Fusion Festival (GER), Bardentreffen (GER), Hafensommer (GER) and many more....
